Sliding Scale Pricing

  • Sliding Scales are a way to provide accessibility to services and goods at different price points, so that folxs can have access to them based on their own unique situation.
  • I make my art with the intention of connection and accessibility. I want everyone to be able to enjoy my creations! I've decided to offer sliding scales to my shop because I believe everyone should have access to beautiful things, and your financial situation shouldn't get in the way of that.
  • Below is a great infographic made by Alexis Cunningfolk, that explains where one falls on a sliding scale, based on ones financial privilege and personal financial experiences:

  • The Highest Level (Price):
    • This price is what the item or service truly costs after considering time spent, materials spent, and other factors. Folxs who do have expendable income, and can meet their basic needs easily, and can afford new things, would fall on this side of the scale
  • The Middle Level (Price):
    • This price is available for folxs who may have a steady income and can meet their basic needs, but still struggle with other factors like paying off debt or have only some expendable income
  • Lowest Level (Price):
    • This price is available at the lowest possible cost, which is also sustainable for the creator when considering the labor put into a product. Folxs who do not have expendable income, and stuggle to meet their basic needs would fall on this side of the scale.

  • This is a practice that I am constantly trying to educate myself on and do the work for. Please feel free to communicate with me any alternative ways of accessing my creations if these do not work for you!
  • I hope that this tool offers all folks the ability to enjoy my artwork! And I hope it also further pushes forward economic justice to help dismantle the capitalistic oppression many of us face.
